Ingredients:
For the Steak:
2 ribeye steaks (or your preferred cut)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon fresh thyme or dried thyme
For the Garlic Butter Mushroom Sauce:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced (cremini, button, or any variety you prefer)
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup beef broth (or chicken broth)
1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra creaminess)
1 teaspoon fresh thyme or dried thyme
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Cook the Steak:
Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil.
While the skillet is heating, pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and fresh thyme.
Once the skillet is hot, add the steaks and sear them for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or cook longer for your desired doneness. (Adjust based on steak thickness and preferred doneness.)
Once done, remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside to rest.
2. Make the Garlic Butter Mushroom Sauce:
In the same skillet, add butter and olive oil over medium heat.
Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they become golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, or until fragrant.
Pour in the beef broth and stir, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Let the broth simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
If you want a creamier sauce, add the heavy cream and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 more minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste, and add the fresh thyme for extra flavor.

3. Combine and Serve:
Return the cooked steaks to the skillet and spoon some of the garlic butter mushroom sauce over the steaks.
Let the steak cook in the sauce for another 1-2 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
